DOUG WENDT
Local revered guitarist Doug Wendt continues to enchant and stop audiences dead in their tracks, in the San Francisco Bay area. Wendt has brought a new depth of dimension to jazz with his original expressions in guitar. His versatile styles, rich sensitive expression and technical expertise create an experience that holds within it a free emotionalism that touches the very soul. A music instructor and arranger, Wendt is a native to
California and has been a professional musician for over 25 years.
He completed a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance at the University of California
in Hayward and has studied with various musical schools from coast to coast. He is well
versed in the studies of Andres Segovia, Alirio Diaz and Narciso Yepes. Mastering the
acoustic and electric guitar, his styles consist of Jazz, Classical, Folk, Blues, Spanish and
Latin guitar. With his unique influences such as Joe Pass, Robben Ford, B. B. King and Albert Collins, Wendt is one of the truly gifted and crowd pleasing musicians of the bay area.

MARK PETRELLA
Petrella brings over 25 years of experience in many varied musical stylings to Dangerous
Martini. This Bay Area resident refers to himself as a working class musician, and until recently Mark’s Bass playing was a regular feature in L.A.’s top country/swing clubs.
Petrella stirs the audience to lively foot tapping when he plays swing bass: His jazz lines demonstrate shrewd, stirring discernment; and he provides earthy, pulsing rhythms in
Dangerous Martinis blues numbers. His facility, melodic wit and straight-ahead power
match Mark’s inventiveness and versatility.

RUBEN SALCIDO
Ruben Salcido is Dangerous Martinis electrifying saxophone player. Salcido was born in
Crockett, CA, grew up in Northern California and majored in software engineering at the University of Nevada.
Salcido brings the spicy hot Latin flavor to the Dangerous Martini sizzling line-up. Finalist in
2001 USA Songwriting Competition Salcido's CD, "Sal Si Puedes" gives a delicious contribution to the world of Latin jazz. Salcido has studied saxophone with Joe Henderson, Mel Martin and John Purcell.

Winner of the 1973 United Artists best banjoist of Northern California contest, having performed and worked with such music legends as Bing Crosby and Perry Como, and band director of the S.F. 49ers band since 1987, Jack Convery has been hailed as “the best banjoist in the NFL.” A singer and guitarist as well, his repertoire of lively material includes timeless jazz classics, novelty show stoppers and country, pop, and bluegrass standards arranged for the banjo. Jack has worked with legendary entertainers such as Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Arthur Godfrey, Willie Nelson, The Temptations, and many more. Born in 1954 in Witchita, Ka., Jack spent his childhood in Fresno, Ca., learning the banjo at age 12. Attending banjo and jazz festivals, Jack “paid his dues” by performing at pizza parlors, as a street musician, and at numerous Bay Area gigs. Jack has numerous CD’s to his credit and performs at banjo and jazz festivals, city concerts, and at venues in Northern California.

Boogie Woogie Queen Wendy DeWitt lays down 8 to the bar like her life depends on it. She's been doing it since childhood and takes it around the world. Add in a voice for singing the blues accompanied by a style reminiscent of Otis Spann, Memphis Slim and Ray Charles, and settle in for a soulful good time.

Wendy has appeared with Marcia Ball, Charlie Musselwhite, Otis Rush, Maria Muldaur, and Jimmy Thackery and was featured at Freight and Salvage, Berkeley’s historic venue with Big Joe Duskin, appeared at the Cincinnati Blues Fest’s famed Arches Piano Stage, headed to Boston with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters for a performance at Boston Symphony Hall, and played before sold out audiences at San Diego's Museum of Art. With Delmark recording artist and blues heavyweight Steve Freund Band Wendy has performed at the San Francisco Blues Fest and the Monterey Jazz Festival. The year started with a SRO pair of concerts in Paris.

DeWitt began playing blues and boogie woogie at the age of 10 and fell in with a group of former Chicagoans when she came to the Bay Area in 1984. While with the Steve Freund band for 6 years Wendy recorded at the legendary Delmark Recording Studio and performed at Buddy Guy's Legend's. Traveling with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters Wendy toured the Southern US, played the SF Blues Festival, PEER in Belgium and performed shows with Little Richard.

Wendy has six well-received albums of her own, can be heard on numerous compilations, and is a guest on albums by Steve Freund, and many other Bay Area blues artists. Her song What Do You Want was a regional hit for Beach Dancers in Myrtle Beach. Recently released is a traditional style boogie/blues CD featuring songs by her favorite influences as well as her own writing. Produced by Steve Fruend. This was quickly followed up by two solo piano albums focusing on boogie woogie.

Past shows include the Freight and Salvage for the third annual production of "Queens of Boogie Woogie" produced by Wendy, several return engagements in France and Shoreline Amphitheater's New Orleans by the Bay. In San Diego Wendy was on the bill with Hadda Brooks on one of the legendary performers last shows and has been officially designated by the original “Queen of the Boogie” as an authentic “Queen of Boogie Woogie”.Wendy returns regularly to France, Pacific northwest and around the United States.

Wendy’s songs are played on blues radio throughout the world and she has been a featured performer on syndicated radio programs including West Coast Live.Wendy's newest release, Boogie Teaser Too (available on CD Baby) is her 6th on the Wette Music label.

Jennifer Jolly has been “radiatin’ the eighty-eights” in New Orleans R&B, boogie-woogie, blues, funk, and Americana styles throughout the Bay Area for over twenty years. Her deep feel for the traditions of Professor Longhair, Albert Ammons, Ray Charles, Art Neville, and other keyboard greats anchors her full, joyful sound. She performs on piano, electric piano, and Hammond B-3 organ.

Jennifer has appeared at many of the Bay Area’s premier venues and festivals, including The Fillmore Auditorium, Yoshi’s, The Great American Music Hall, Freight and Salvage, Ashkenaz, New Orleans By The Bay, and San Francisco’s Carnaval. She’s performed or recorded with Phil Lesh (The Grateful Dead), David Grisman, legendary folk/jazz vocalist Barbara Dane, R&B guitarist Robert Ward, and many others in genres ranging from jazz to ska.

Currently, Jennifer co-leads The Jolly Gibsons (New Orleans funk/jazz/blues) and The Jolly/Steinkoler Duo (blues/boogie-woogie), plays piano with Big B and His Snake Oil Saviors (country swing/boogie), and performs solo piano shows and various duo and ensemble concerts. For eighteen years she held the keyboard chair in Hot Links (New Orleans R&B) and its successor, Johnny Harper’s Carnival. Other groups have included David Gans and The Broken Angels (improvisational Americana/rock), Bass Culture Revue (neo-soul/reggae), The Uptown Rulers (New Orleans R&B), Marie Schumacher and The Invisible Band (folk pop/rock), and The Big Picture (R&B/soul).

Jennifer is on the faculty of The Jazzschool in Berkeley, CA, has taught every summer at Cazadero Performing Arts Camp since 1999, and maintains a busy private teaching practice. She has appeared as keyboardist and vocalist on a dozen recording projects, including “Happy Jalopy” by The Jolly Gibsons.

Born in North Adams, MA, Jimmy Sweetwater grew up moving around a lot. When he finally settled down in Gainesville, Fl, he really started making music. Ending up in San Francisco in '89, Sweetwater's Harmonica and Washboard has become a bonafide local fixture and can be heard on dozens of CDs by Bay Area-based musicians.

Chad Manning
Chad has performed with Darryl Anger, Joe Craven, Don Walser, Ron Kavana, and many others. He can be seen performing locally with bluegrass legends David Grisman and Due West as well as western swing band Lost Weekend. Chad's fiddling will tug at your heartstrings!

Greg has been working with the Chazz Cats and Funky Beulah. Greg is one of the swingingest horns around!

LEGENDARY RADIO PERSONALITY, MUSICIAN AND HUMORIST,
Master trombonist Mal Sharpe has been a much-admired and pivotal member of the San Francisco jazz scene for more than 40 years. In addition to leading his Dixieland jazz band, The Big Money In Jazz Band in gigs all over the Bay Area, Mal hosts a regular Sunday night show “Back On Basin Street” on KCSM/Jazz 91. He does commercials and voice-overs, gives interviews, writes books and is involved with a number of North Beach community projects. Mal made his name as a member of the legendary and ground-breaking "man on the street" comedy team, Coyle & Sharpe, in the 1960s. We're sure he spent his fair share of time at the Purple Onion in those days!

Mal Sharpe can be heard every Sunday at 9 p.m. on KCSM FM's Back on Basin Street.

TONY MARCUS
Known for performing with Cats & Jammers and Leftover Dreams, Tony Marcus plays and sings the great songs of the American songbook with unbeatable swing.

Tony Marcus has long been a presence on the San Francisco Bay Area acoustic music scene. From a start playing traditional folk music (in his first band, both Laurie Lewis and Kate Brislin were his bandmates for a time) to the jazzier sounds of more recent years (Leftover Dreams, Cats & Jammers, etc.)
Tony has been a member of the Cheap Suit Serenaders since 1979, and toured Europe with them twice. He has performed theatre music on stage at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, San Jose Rep, Denver Center Theatre, Barter Theatre, Virginia Stage Co., Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and many others. Other performers with whom he has performed or recorded include Geoff Muldaur, Kate Wolf, The Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, The Swing Session, Frank Wakefield, The Sons of the San Joaquin, Sylvia Herold, Marley's Ghost, Rose Maddox, Patsy Montana, Lost Weekend Western Swing Band and many others. His most recent CD (released April, 2005) is a duet with swing violinist Paul Anastasio, and is entitled "Anything Goes".

Bassist, Ari Munkres, is known as one of the swingingest bass players around. He is fortunate to have worked with such jazz greats as Louis Bellson, Bud Shank, Shorty Rodgers, and poet Allen Ginsberg.
Ari also plays Gypsy Jazz with the Hot Club of San Francisco and Gaucho.

Vive Le Jazz! (formerly known as The Very Hot Club) is a modern-day Quintette based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
George Cole, and his band create an irresistible blend of nostalgia and cutting edge modernity. To understand the genesis of Vive Le Jazz!, it's crucial to know a bit about the Quintette du Hot Club de France. That group took their name from a famous Parisian cafe, and are still lauded by music historians as the greatest European jazz band. It was a revolutionary lineup fronted by legendary Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, with violinist Stephane Grappelli and two acoustic rhythm guitarists - Joseph Reinhardt and Roger Chaput - plus the double bass of Louis Vola. Today's Vive Le Jazz! melds this rich past with the present. Led by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter George Cole , Vive Le Jazz! chooses not to imitate or reproduce the music of Reinhardt or Grappelli. They instead renew the original concept, writing new songs in a style that captures the spirit of a time when popular taste and art coincided.

Phil Hawkins has been beating on pots and pans since he was five. Now, thirty two years later, he’s still obsessed and while the passion remains the same, the instrument, well. . . actually it’s the same too! Originally from Topeka, Kansas, Phil has developed into one of the most versatile jazz drummers in the Bay Area and his steelpan music is making a mark on one of the newest artforms (and musical instruments) in the world.

After completing a Masters Degree in Percussion from Wichita State University, under the tutorage of J.C. Combs, Phil made the move to Oakland where he quickly established himself in the diverse bay area music scene. There, he performed with Wild Mango, Celtic rock band The Resident
Aliens, mandolinist Joe Craven and Brasilian singer Celia Malheiros. He also appeared on recordings with Irish music master Ron Kavana (Proper Records, UK), Three Tenors No Opera (Sea Breaze Jazz), Greg Murai (Village Well Music) and teamed up with vibraphonist Gerry Grosz and bassist Jim Kerwin (David Grisman) to release “The Cosmic Buzz” on Uplate.org Records in 2001.
Prior to moving to California Phil had already begun to focus on creating his own sound through the medium of the steelpan. He had been inspired by musical encounters with percussionist Michael Spiro (with whom he studied hand percussion) and steelpanist Andy Narell.
